However feeling quite depressed having just returned from visit to doctor cluching my first dose of ACE inhibitors - could I really be taking this stuff for the rest of my life?

But - get this. I had acupuncture yesterday and after two doses of Chinese Herbal Medicine to compliment this I have dropped 10 points on Systolic and 27 points on Diastolic! In one day!

Now as you can imagine doctor is not daft enough to poo-poo a medical practice which has been going for two and a half thousand years - oh and by the way is still going strong. But says that "you can't have acupuncture every day" and "the best you can hope is to drop 15 points" - Hello? 27 points thank you! In one day - thank you very much. And I have had consistently high readings for the last 10 years - every time I've done it or the doctor has so this low reading really is a revelation.

I know - I am placing a lot of faith in this alternate method but why the hell not? Now I am sitting here thinking to myself - what should I do next?

Do I:
* Take the meds given by doc and give up on the acupuncture?
* Not bother with docs meds and see how I get on with Chinese healing?
* Do both - but how will I know which one is getting results?

I do not want to take chemical drugs for the rest of my life which could kill my kidneys and god knows what else. I don't want to die from a stroke or heart attack either. Once I start on the Doc's drugs I will be on that treadmill and it will be hard to get off.

If anyone's reading this and has an opinion or experience then I would be very interested to hear what you have to say.

Am I using my time constructively? Well - yes & no. I spent the last 3 hours reading other people's blogs. God - some of you people are funny. I'm on holiday so for once I can use my time unconstructively & feel good about it. Maybe I'll spend the next couple of hours playing Mah-jong solitaire.

The telly's on now & it's raining really hard outside. The 'parents' are threatening to visit & as I look around me I can see that perhaps it might be poignant to see if I can remember where the hoover is. I think that's how you say it - not quite sure how you use it though. Oh and there’s the washing up of course. The rain’s made it really dark so if I keep the lights off I can forget about cleaning up for now.

Other half just stirred - great the day can get going! No such luck - "having a poo & going back to bed". Ah well. I asked “What day is it today?” hoping to hell it’s not Friday already. “Today” That’s good enough for me.

Yesterday did some pre-beer shopping. Post-beer shopping is always a very bad idea. That gadget you don’t need but it looks really cool. After a couple of beers it’s a must have. I remember a day not too long ago where the local bar-flies joked we were shoplifting as we kept taking turns to run out & buy stuff we’d seen earlier. Bank account tells a very sad & sorry tale – actually strike that. Bank account tells a story of two people who really don’t give a shit & live for today! “What day is it today?”
